G-VAST flaps problem and Gatwick diversion

G-VAST a Virgin Atlantic B747-400 was operating the VS73 to Orlando from Manchester. At 14,000 feet the aircraft squawked 7700 (emergency) It continued to climb to 18,000 feet and then started circling to burn off fuel. Once enough fuel was burned the aircraft routed to London Gatwick and made a safe landing. It went to London Gatwick instead of back to Manchester due to the fact that the aircraft only had a minor technical issue and was expected to be back in the air operating the VS73 from Gatwick to Orlando. The aircraft departed London Gatwick later that evening with around a 6 hour delay.
